Wireless Driver ???
hello,
i have got s new laptop with vista pre-installed and i am wanting to move it to ubuntu 7.10. i would like to know if my wireless card is supported as i would not like to take vista off befor knowing it is. my wireless card is the: Realtek RTL8187B wireless 802.11g 54Mbps USB 2.0 Network Adapter thanks |
It works. BUT before you boot to linux:
Boot on windows. Go to the device manager and get into "properties" for your network card. In the "Advanced Options" tab select: Wake-on-lan after shutdown | enable Or the card will not be seen by the next boot to linux. Having done this you can then boot to the ubuntu "live" OS (Running, slowly, from the CD, not your HDD), and check your card is indeed working before you choose to install. |
thanks i hate windows i wish they would pre-install Linux most laptops it makes it easier

It is important that you find it though, as the windows driver otherwise cripples the network chip. See this thread: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...roblem-591466/ |
