Cant down load packages with synaptic
Im not able to download any packages through synaptic, whenever I try to I get this message no matter which package I select:
W: Failed to fetch http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/poo...601-2_i386.deb Could not connect to localhost:4001 (127.0.0.1). - connect (111 Connection refused) |
You have to check your settings in System -> Administration -> Software sources.
Most likely there's an error on your server selection. You can tell Synaptic to search for the best available server or select the server for your country. //Matthias |
Thanks, but after it began pinging all of the available servers I got the error message of: No Suitable server found. Is their something I can adjust from the command line.

Check to be sure that your internet connection is working---
e.g. can you open web pages? In a terminal try: ping www.google.com If that doesn't work do: ping 209.85.173.104 If the latter works, but not the actual url, it means that there's a problem in DNS configuration. |
Same problem here. I installed Hardy on a PS3 when it was still a beta, today I tried to update and the only repos that worked were medibuntu and some ports.ubuntu.com/..., none of the others worked. I also got the "no suitable server found" message. Any idea on hhow to solve this. Thanks
