You have to check your settings in System -> Administration -> Software sources.

Most likely there's an error on your server selection. You can tell Synaptic to search for the best available server or select the server for your country.

Thanks, but after it began pinging all of the available servers I got the error message of: No Suitable server found. Is their something I can adjust from the command line.

Check to be sure that your internet connection is working---
e.g. can you open web pages?

In a terminal try:
ping www.google.com

If that doesn't work do:
ping 209.85.173.104

If the latter works, but not the actual url, it means that there's a problem in DNS configuration.

Same problem here. I installed Hardy on a PS3 when it was still a beta, today I tried to update and the only repos that worked were medibuntu and some ports.ubuntu.com/..., none of the others worked. I also got the "no suitable server found" message. Any idea on hhow to solve this. Thanks
