Nvidia nforce driver installation problem

Hi, I'm trying to install the nforce kit driver from nvidia (audio and network driver). But I get the following errors:

...
/proc/version is Linux version 2.6.11.4-20a-default gcc version 3.3.5 20050117
...
No precompiled kernel interface was fond to match your kernel
...
--> performing cc-version-check witch CC="cc"
--> gcc-version-check failed

./nvsound/main/conftest.sh:line 9 command not found
could not compile gcc.version-check.c

This is what the installer says= Set the cc environment variable to the name of the compiler used to compile your kernel

(How can I do that, and where do I found the compiler that is used)

Or shall I better fix 'No precompiled kernel interface..."

Can somebody help with this???

Now the problem is i can't go on the internet when I'm on linux so if I have to download files I have to do it in windows and copy them then. But that's no problem, but think about it if you give a solution ;)

THX

looks like you need to install a c ompiler... normally your best option is to install most of the "developement tools" section on your distro cd's. most commercial distros will lump together everythign you need in some category like that. if not, install gcc and go from there with the dependencies it requires.
