Modem drivers !!!

I have suse 10.0 in my pc. I recently purchased a PROLINK 56K V92 internel modem. Suse has not detected this modem.

How could i get my modem to work?
(The manufacturers web site does not state any linux driver support)

Where could i get the necessary drivers?

What internel modems are supported on suse 10.0 & 10.1?

Thanks

Go to http://linmodems.org/ and see if the scanModem tool can figure out if you have a supported chipset. Note that I'm not very optimistic that this modem will work in linux. It's probably a software modem that only has windows drivers. You're usually better off spending the $15 US on an external serial modem (a hardware modem). These have onboard chips that do all the work and you just have to plug them into the serial port. Since they use standard serial commands, any linux (or OS for that matter) should work flawlessly.

You can do an express search - modem / to find all of the modems that will be detected by Suse Linux 10. It is much easier than spending trial and error money and enduring needless frustration.

That's a nice link, I never even knew it existed. Into my bookmarks it goes...
