Solaris 10 download

This is a very stupid question but is Sun Solaris 10 free for download. I have never used Solaris and wanted to try it. thanks

Yep, but you do have to register to download.

jlliagre 10-27-2006 04:06 PM

and registering is free too.

You can download non Sun OpenSolaris based distributions without a registration requirement too.

I just finished installing .... you better free up a few hours, it is pig slow.

metallica1973 10-30-2006 02:47 PM

I take it that the installer for Solaris is not very user friendly.

jlliagre 10-30-2006 02:57 PM

There was no real demand for a user friendly installer since until recently.

I would not say that the installer is "unfriendly" it was just slow. However as the previous post states they are working on that. I can install Ubuntu in about 20 minutes, but I still opted to try Solaris. So far I like the Java Desktop 3. Now I get to read and see how to manage packages.

Solaris needs a little help in the install gui area but it is assumed that you are a flavored *nix users, right, come on help me out here!
