Have u made any configurations for the sound or did it work with the default installation?

My experience after a few weeks using Slack 9.1 for desktop purposes is not that good.
Installation went smooth, except for my sound card which was recognized and loaded but refused to produce sound (yes, I used alsamixer to unmute it) . I counted about 22 sound modules loaded bij hotplug (SB Live value). Fixed that by uninstalling the alsa drivers and loaded the good old emu10k1 kernel driver, which works fine.

After loading the matrox dri modules (which are in the hotplug blacklist), installation of additional Matrox drivers (MGA_HAL etc) and configuring X I started KDE.
Mozilla freezes keyboard input in some cases and the only thing to do is shut Mozilla down and restart it. That was the first problem I came across. A precompiled Mozilla version from Mozilla.org solved this problem.
But sometimes after shutting down KDE my computer hangs. The graphical desktop is still viewable but the computer stopped responding completely, even attempts to login remotely failed. The only solution was to reset my computer, which caused corruption to my KDE settings in ~/.kde .
So I compiled my own kernel, leaving out what wasn't necessary but that didn't solve the problem described above. I still have a occasional freeze when shutting down KDE.
Yesterday I deleted some new mails in Kmail immediately after receiving them, because they were spam. A complete freeze of my system was the result. It is reproducable.
Sometimes when typing an Enter in Konsole which has focus, desktop shortcuts are started.
The noatun playlist has some strange behaviour when selecting a directory containing other than music files only.

Right now I'm recompiling QT and the complete KDE package. I hope that this will solve the problems I have.
I used same versions of QT and KDE on this machine on Slackware 9.0. Rock stable. So I'm not that happy with the 9.1 version right now. If the recompilation doesn't solve my problems I will reinstall 9.0 again and will skip this version completely.
