Looks like we're WILDLY off topic here, but just to set the record straight.. Regarding your post:
"1984, Oct 2 Jehovah's Witnesses Another prediction of the end from the Jehovah's Witnesses. [96]" Do you have any documentation for this? Last time I checked Matthew 24:36 was in play - "“But as for that day and hour no one knows it—not even the angels in heaven[a]—except the Father alone."

It's quite interesting actually. I was too for awhile, and the way things were, the only thing I could think about is how every workflow would have been way more efficient if I had KDE desktop instead of Windows desktop. I mean GUI, I know some people don't like KDE, but it really would have made my workdays ALOT easier and ALOT more efficient.

There were so many micro(soft) struggles that just added to the normal work. And I don't even mean the OS itself, although that slowed down the whole organisation as well, but just GUI efficiency.

I retired as a classroom teacher in January 2016. Years ago I built a DIY classroom computer lab using donated computers. I was happily running Linux; my students liked it. Our school district hired a new IT commander who was a Windows guy. The school district in their infinite wisdom took away my Linux lab and replaced it with fewer substandard Windows units. Suffice it to say that I do not miss work.
I'm looking forward to 15.0.

At work I have to use managed laptop (windows). Most frustrating part is that system will reboot does not matter what I do after and update (I can't postpone it forever and some of the things to analyze will take hours).
However, I don't have any other options because 100% software is windows only (aside from the fact that IT wants to use windows for managing systems).

Windows OS does not bother me, what bothers me is that this OS actually is getting in the way instead of helping with work.

The -current ISO that AlienBOB cooked up on the 27th is rock solid on my hardware. Only problem I've had involves the trackpad on my 2009 aluminum Macbook, and that probably isn't Slackware's fault but something I haven't figured out how to properly configure.

This completely sums up my feelings about Windows - it gets in the way. As does Word.

A common scenario for me is working to a deadline and my Windows work computer almost seems to be actively fighting me. Fanciful, I know, but the more in a hurry you are the more likely Word is to "want" to reformat a list or mess up how something looks. And how does Windows 10 know exactly the worst time to restart and install updates? :banghead:

Just FTR and I have no idea if your work would even allow it but there are hacks for Windows 10 similar to the old "Windows Lite" hacks that remove a lot of annoying or wasteful "features" including forced updates. From my POV "getting in the way" is a rather extreme form of "bothering". An OpSys is supposed to serve you not the other way around.

When will Slackware 15.0 be released?

The date on the OP of this thread is approximately 1 month before Slackware 14.0 was released.

Does nobody understand sarcasm these days?

Hi,

Most members are still wanting to know when Slackware 15 will be released. PV drops a note now and then. I am a long term Slackware user but still anticipate a new release and continue to wait patiently. As they say it will be released when it's ready! But we can hope for it soon.

I usually do not chime in on these threads, but :)

Me personality, I would rather wait for a solid release then just getting '15' with some issues.

This release seem to have largest and potentially disruptive changes I have ever seen in Slackware and I have been using it for a very long time.

So especially in this case, "when ready" has far more meaning then in it has had the past.
