Same for me, I'm a very happy user of XFCE now.

Fact is I'm not worried anymore about the next version of KDE in Slackware. I moved on, like I once moved on from FVWM2 to KDE.

Okay. Thanks for that evaluation, niels.horn. :)

OK, who can read Pat's mind?
Minor or Major release?
With KDE 4.x?
Wait and see. Besides, the next release is not yet around the corner so there is still time for many changes.
On a side note, the fuss over KDE 4 reminded me of the time when GNOME was dropped. Even I was silently bothered by it, not being a big fan of KDE in general.

This is sure. KDE3 left -current two or three month ago in favour of version 4.

Perhaps, I should start writing down all the little things that are better, i.e, useful about 3.5.10

This would be a good thing to do. Hopefully you'll post them here too.
No need to start a new thread. We started that conversation here.

I'm curious about KDE4, but, I'm not that bothered that KDE3 has been replaced by KDE4 in -current. I'll try out KDE4 when the next version of Slackware is released and see how I like it. I suspect I'll move to XFce 4.6.1 for my older Slackware boxes.
We are very lucky that Slackware ships with a variety of desk top environments. :)

I'd like to see src2pkg and sbopkg included, possibly in /extra. Two great pieces of software, useful and not mere eye-candy.

Couldn't agree more!
Both programs make our lifes a lot easier administrating several Slackware installations.

pwc101 04-26-2009 03:04 PM

Definitely agree on sbopkg.

The vast majority of my software needs are now catered for by SlackBuilds.org and sbopkg. If they're not, I write a slackbuild and submit it myself.

src2pkg never ceases to amaze me either! :)

inclusion of sbopkg

I would like to see sbopkg included in the next release of Slackware. It's very small and very useful - I cannot think of any arguments against its inclusion.

EDIT: Whoops, just noticed that other people have iterated the same request. Well, just consider me behind that. :)

I'd like to see Slackware add $200 to my bank account every day, other than that I'm pretty happy with it.

shadowsnipes 04-26-2009 09:25 PM

+1 for including a stable release of sbopkg in Slackware /extra

However, careful attention would have to be kept on the sbopkg-renames file.

I'll second that. In my case make it £200 though. TIA, Pat. :)

I also would like to see gnashley's src2pkg make it into the next release. Excellent utility!

Kaffeine Media Player.
