Ah sorry I mean building from a directory rather than a source package.
Eg:
Code:

git clone git://github.com/whatever
src2pkg -foo ./whatever

At the moment I have to go
Code:

git clone git://github.com/whatever
tar -czvf whatever.tgz
src2pkg  ./whatever.tgz

Which is a bit silly..

You ever get this figured out?

No sir. I spent a few minutes in the man page and on google but couldn't see anything. It's just something that I run into once every couple of months and think "surely a piece of software this awesome would include such an obvious option?"..

It's been a while since I've used it, but what about 'trackinstall' which comes with src2pkg? If memory serves me, you still have to modify the configure script or make file, but it creates a package after the compile process...(Ah! Just checked, there is a man page for it, 'man trackinstall').

Almost perfect........

Still working on getting the exact look and feel that I want, I'll never be satisfied!!

Found a conky that I really like and have made some mods to it. I added the date & time as well as a call out to the changelog. I also added the readings for my laptop fan, 2 more CPU cores, removed swapgraph and added two additional mount points and finally total up/dn for wlan0. The original conky can be found here:

That's a nice looking conky. Just one question, since your screenshots are in 1366x768 I assume that you use a laptop in the 15" range. Do you ever see that conky when you have a window open?

Yup, the largest window I have would be FF but I have it sized to where I can see the conky. Example:

Ah, I see. Now here you can see the preferences of different people. I would consider such a setup a waste of space, especially on a small 15" screen (I let conky print the information I want to see into the statusbar of my WM, use window titles only in stacked or tabbed tiles, my browser has no tool- or addressbar and very thin tabs, ...).
But then, I do that on my desktop with its large screen also, so I might be somewhat "special".

I also suffer from this increasingly common syndrome.

According to scientists/psychologists, it's called SSSS (Screen Space Stinginess Syndrome)and consists in excessive worrying about wasting screen space where a general rule is that the bigger screen space a user has, the more unwilling they are to waste it on bells and whistles. According to a recent study, users with small monitors are more likely to populate their screens with desktop widgets and icons whereas people with large screen space (ie. one or more large monitors) tend to use tiling window managers, have very minimalist statusbars and borders, don't use graphical menus and dismiss graphical elements such as widgets or icons as a relict of last century's wasteful and shallow culture of focus on external and superficial beauty.

The study concludes that there's no cure for SSSS and that we're all f***d up.

If you follow the first link in SqdnGuns' post you will find a download button on the right side of the page. Using that you download the zipped config file.

14.0 trough XFCE4.10 (really "just got better")

XFCE4 with two panels and custom gadget selection
I'm just a great fan of Gkrellm for a while now...
I like Slackware 14.0 comes even tighter packed yet more complete than ever.
I switched from KDE to the ever better XFCE and found out it really "just got better", and all is still in place
I wonder is it the XFCE4 team or is it Slackware magic?

And Yes, i use a image list for XFCE background :^)
