3 Attachment(s)
Hello!
slack 13.37 x86, KDE, fresh install ( yesterday ). first times i cannot see that, but yesterday on night i see that.
look at attachment - and it be similar in all 4 virtual desktops with different wallpapers. try to change wallpaper, square stay...
what is it, and what i remove that?
P.S. more and more strange things in linux i encounter in last years, even in good and conservative slack!

It looks like an empty desktop folder widget to me. Try unlocking your widgets and see if the config dialogue appears when you hover your mouse near the edge on the right hand side.

haved similar thing. no, config / resize dialog not appear. also i not putting anything, who can give that effect, i think...
after install and first hours of use i not see that "square", it appears later, and i do not know - why...

Seemed like the folder view to me, created by using desktop widgets.
Try clicking anywhere on them and see if you can see a cross button.

Regards.

EDIT : I was too slow to type. Just saw above.

This happens to me too! Really annoying. Solution for me was to stop using KDE :P

Edit: Reading through the bug report posted above it seems it's fixed in KDE 4.6.

even though its not a real fix you can do "killall plasma-desktop && plasma-desktop" and that should fix the problem.

See my responses in the following thread for workarounds to the problem of the phantom box:

Same problem here; I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one. I can live with it, anyway.
P.S. Nice backgrounds, you should post to the "This is my Slackware desktop" thread :-)

today i had strange discovery, who led to the strange square was gone now.
firstly, i had right mouse click on desktop, and choice "Activities..". thats show me a new window at bottom, where i see two "unnamed" pictogramms. i closed left pictogramm, and close that window. nothing changes.
then i see, a taskbar not from left to the right edge: to left it is on edge, but to right ( where is clock and date ) it is small spacer from screen edge. i click on "unlock widgets", then right click on taskbar, and "panel options" -> "panel settings", and operate with that two sliders in right side, for got taskbar right side to the edge of screen. then click on "close" on that screen - and - miracle - square is gone :-O check another desktops -it is clearly gone. maybe this helps anothers too :)
