my favorite about code names is that I can never tell what the hell the version of the OS is. I'm so glad the code names for slackware are numerical.

so good...

You know, this new logo-thing is SO good, that they are thinking about using it as weapon of mass destruction?

:-)

General Failure 09-12-2008 03:22 PM

it's slackwars now!

Edit: Currently, 50.56 percent of 89 voters found the new logo to be "ugly" or consider ugly to be a "compliment" for it. :D

"But OMG!!! a boot image was added to slackware!!!"
I mentioned this heresy in the other thread, but nobody took the bait. Next we will have no /etc/inittab, autologin to runlevel 4 -no make that the 'new' GUI runlevel 5, running as default user root, with all the ports open, a GUI installer, and a Bob Dobbs avatar as a desktop assistent!

Which means that all people who didn't vote just don't care about it.

It's not a big deal. I've been working like this for a year, because running "init 4" as root each time you want to use KDE is annoying.

what? `startx` doesn't work with KDE when you have the proper .xinitrc file in your home directory?

I find the text console more pleasing, especially when all I'm doing for the session is compiling/installing or moving some things around. It's fun going to a coffee shop and writing script or something with just the console open and people wonder what the hell you are doing.

What's even sadder is that I use vim so much that even as I type thing I'm trying to delete lines with 'dd'.

I should browse the net at a coffee shop in just `links` that would be awsome! or watch a movie with aaxine!... honestly... why is aalib there? how offten does one need to spam an ASCII art image of bob dobs? Not to mention cacaview...

well... I was going to past an ascii image of dobbs but his face appeared melted... that and it was a bit extreem

lumak 09-12-2008 09:00 PM

yeah... thought I would re try that... but no... it's just wrong.

worst logo I've ever seen. it's a joke, right? please patrick revert to the original logo. :(

hitest 09-12-2008 09:39 PM

Wow. We are still talking about the logo? PV made his choice. I'm fine with it. This isn't an issue for me.

it's the first time i've seen it - when did it come out? but yeah, it's pretty awful imo - especially compared to the original logo which was completely classic and kick @ss. i guess that's what happens when you try to improve on perfection. :(

Agreed. The old logo is timeless, classic. I'm okay with the new logo.
