slack 12 bios check question
The bios check seems to take a long time when slack first loads, when the dots trail across the screen. It's like watching doom load on a slow 486.
This is on a t22 whereas freebsd 6.2 seems not to do this and cuts the loading time by at least 50%.I realize this is an old laptop now and I'm not complaining I am just kinda curious about it and more so as to what process is going on there. Other than the initial start-up this old beast runs slack/KDE really well and not slow at all. |
I added the "compact" option to my lilo.conf and have had no problems, and no more dots (this was really slow on my laptop, too). Apparently this can cause problems, but it sure didn't for me, and now booting (or recovering from hibernation) is much faster.
