Maybe still xfce 4.14?

There don't seem to be too many problems with Robby Workman's packages.

That's good to know, of course :-)
I suspect that Xfce 4.14 and Plasma-$new will hit the tree at the same time.

You mean, never? :)

Good news, your xfce4 packages work corectly, also here ;)

Since utc vs localtime got raised recently in another thread, I thought I might raise this:

Isn't /etc/hardwareclock unnecessary given that /etc/adjtime contains a UTC/LOCAL field?

It seems to me that timeconfig could just populate that adjtime file (by either running hwclock --systohc [--utc |--localtime] as a one off, or by faking it) and then the hwclock command would do the right thing from then on in, without needing a duplicate config setting in a separate file to specify whether the clock was local or utc.

It will be exciting seeing that in the Changelog, and I am a Fluxbox user :)

And Mate 1.22 as well. Who said: wishful thinking?

Having dropped Gnome 2 in 2005, somehow I doubt it will get added again in 2019.

One of the reasons for dropping Gnome from Slackware-current and suggesting instead to rely on the third-party projects then providing it for Slackware has been stated in the ChangeLog for Slackware 10.2 on Sat Mar 26 23:04:41 PST 2005:
Quote:

GNOME is and always has been a moving target (even the "stable" releases usually aren't quite ready yet) that really does demand a team to keep up on all the changes (many of which are not always well documented). I fully expect that this move will improve the quality of both Slackware itself, and the quality (and quantity) of the GNOME options available for it.
In my opinion Mate instead is not a moving target, and keep up all the changes is doable by a single person, as shown by the MSB project (thanks Willy), and by its inclusion in Slint. This being said, this is not a request from me, let alone a demand, just a suggestion. I will just point out that Mate is by far the most accessible desktop for visually impaired users. Maybe Plasma-$new will become as accessible, but we are not there yet.

/dev/i2c devices are not created on my machine and i2cdetect -l shows nothing. Does anybody have the same problem? I'm working on Lenovo E480.

EDIT:

It's ok after
Code:

sudo modprobe i2c-dev

I asked about including MATE in /extra. Pat's reply. Wishful thinking perhaps but he said no to /extra, which in a strict reading does not necessarily mean no to the main branch. :) I suspect though Pat does not want to support more than two desktops.

Unlike previous versions, in Thunderbird 68.x, the Help->About dialog defaults to automatically checking for updates rather than displaying a button.

In my user.js I have all update related preferences disabled yet I see automatic updates in 68.2. In 60.9 I see a button. Same profile for both.

Further, allowing update checks seems contrary to traditional practices of package updates being controlled through the distro.
