an interested request: is it possible to include libgomp.so.1 (from the gcc package) to the aaa_elflibs?

I'm asking because in one of my vms where I have done a minimal installation for web serving Imagemagick's convert seems now to link to it...

It looks like it could be due to changes between how headers are handled with the mesa and libglvnd packages. See this topic for more details.

Bad choice? If your referring to 14.2 then I would agree. That said, Eric's ktown is not for 14.2 it's for -current. I've been using Slackware64-current and Alien Bob's ktown since before Plasma. While I build most of my own packages, they generally use the same setting as found in a SlackBuild. I have around 208 thrid party packages installed, all of them created using a SlackBuild script with the exception of a couple of packages I get from Eric's repository. I have had very few issues in building third party packages.

Some years ago lilo got a slackware branding screen, why not add this awesome xdm slackware theme to the xdm package :-)

I think that grew into something way too complex, and the liveslak XDM theme is just adding enough of polish: https://git.slackware.nl/liveslak/tree/xdm
BUt that's a biased opinion of course.

How about some Slackware wallpapers in /extra ? I am not very good at image manipulation but I'd like to see a community contribution of wallpapers included in the ISO because why not?

DarkVision 10-28-2019 12:19 AM

mkfontscale replaces some files from mkfontdir since version 1.2.0, bin/mkfontdir and man/mkfontdir are currently included in both packages.

mkfontscale now includes the mkfontdir script previously distributed separately.

There is this collection on SBo: https://slackbuilds.org/repository/1...ck-wallpapers/

Although I wouldn't bother downloading any of the dated ones (unless you like wallpapers with old version numbers).

I think would be nice to have some officialy released wallaper and also maybe a full slackware theme.

This; I don't see why we can't have some wallpapers officially sanctioned by PV available in /extra.

0XBF 10-28-2019 09:23 AM

While I agree that slackware themes and wallpapers would be nice, some of the logistics might be difficult. I'm thinking along the lines of author credit, or wallpapers that use copyrighted images, since anyone can pull images from the web and use gimp to add a slackware logo.

Either way it'll be a bit of work to vet a list of official wallpapers, and more work to design themes for the specific DEs and WMs that a new slackware will ship with (a list that's not quite clear yet). Perhaps you could start a community request to collect wallpapers and themes and put together a package that you could submit for inclusion? That is of course if Pat and team are interested in adding such a package to the official releases.

Just my $0.02. Maybe we'll get a more official reply on the subject.

I'd be happy to see an effort like this operate as an independent project, but I don't really want to bundle such a package in with Slackware itself. It's too difficult to know for sure if something is really cleared as far as copyright or not, and I'd rather not be put in a position where feelings could be hurt if we don't care for some submission or another, or having to cut off submissions because the size of the collection has grown too large.

On the copyright issue, it brings back bad memories of Disney coming in to Walnut Creek CDROM and drilling holes through thousands of CDs because someone had cued their lawyers in about a 128x128 GIF of Mickey Mouse included in some package's documentation as an example image.
