No -stable 32-bit (x86) changelog at slackware.com?

Hi all,

I went to slackware.com a few minutes ago* and did not see the changelog for Slackware 13.37 (the 32-bit -stable). See my screen capture.

The real thing is still where it should be on ftp.slackware.com, but I wonder what's up with the web site.

Any ideas?

yeah, perhaps it's a glitch

wildwizard 03-31-2012 11:39 PM

I can see them all but they have been buggy for a week or so now.

Looks like BDFL is dropping 32-bit support.....

cwizardone 04-01-2012 03:08 PM

The changelog for Slackware-current (32 bit) at slackware.com was updated on 29 March, but the Slackware64-current changelog has not been updated since the 26th (as of about 30 minutes ago).

However, if you the check the changelog for Slackware64-current at the Oregon State University mirror it is correct, i.e., last updated on the 29th of March.

April fool. Right?

32-bit stable is still not showing up on the page. And, it is still there at the source.

Not a big deal, but a strange glitch nonetheless.

Any updates on this....(?)
I still can't see the changelog for 13.37 32-bit.

Regards.

PrinceCruise, You bonehead....why don't you try a mirror?

http://slackware.osuosl.org/slackwar.../ChangeLog.txt

PrinceCruise 04-19-2012 09:58 PM

First, that was rude.
Second, I know about mirrors, was wandering if it's going be on the main site like x86-64 bit version, just a new guy to Slackware.

Regards.

EDIT : Seems like people are over the top because of the recent Slackware down heat over here, I'm asking for what the OP asked 2 months back, not fearing a drop of version, clearly.

kingbeowulf 04-19-2012 10:34 PM

Slackware 32-bit has existed since the beginning of time. x86_64 is a recent addition. If you look carefully you would see Slackware-current x86_32 changelog posted. What make maakes you think Slakcware-stable 13.37 x86_32 support would suddenly be dropped?

This has been discussed to death here on LQ. There have been some server issues. If read this thread carefully, as well as a few others (LQ has a search function...) you will understand what is going on.

Yes, sometimes there are stupid questions....

Please, learn to read carefully. Who on this earth is wandering about dropping support for a version?
I simply asked any pointers on if the 32 bit changelog is going be seen over the main site any time soon or not, as the thread is here for 2 months and in google search it showed up on top?

I have been there already HOWEVER It's irrelevant of what I asked here, clearly.

Regards.

EDIT : Oh I see in this thread you were actually the one who doubted on the BDFL dropping support for 32 bit 2 months back. I smell sheer hypocrisy now.

I don't see any smilies. So stay nice, place nice, OK?

About 3 hours ago it was slow, but I was able to get onto slackware.com and 32 bit stable was listed in the change logs.
However, I just tried again, and after a long wait was able to view the changelog page and 32 bit stable was Not there.
Also, as mentioned before 32 bit -current is up to date (unless there has been more changes in the last few hours) but 64 bit -current hasn't been updated since March.

@PrinceCruise,
Don't let the er... zealots get you down. They mean well (sometimes).
:)

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying here. The www.slackware.com/changelog/ page just links straight to the Oregon State University mirror. So if the Oregon State University mirror is correct (as you state) then slackware.com must by definition be correct as well. I have attached a screenshot so you can see what www.slackware.com/changelog/ looks like to me. It links directly to these two files:

ftp.osuosl.org/pub/slackware/slackware-current/ChangeLog.txt
ftp.osuosl.org/pub/slackware/slackware64-current/ChangeLog.txt

That is not what I am seeing. And as far as I can tell, they are largely the same.
