ndiswrapper rt2870 problems

I've been trying to get my wusb600n wireless usb adapter working for some time now and this is the error I'm getting. Has anyone else gotten this working in Slackware if so a little help appreciated.

ndiswrapper rt2870 problems

If all else fails you could upgrade to kernel 2.6.31, which includes a driver for the rt2870 chip. I'm using the rt61pci driver from the kernel and it seems OK.

I've never upgraded a kernel before, but I guess I'll have to if I can't get anything else to work.

you can also download the rt2870 linux driver, and install it. google to find places to download from.

I did download the linux driver first, but I don't know how to configure the install. I haven't been using Linux for more than two months so I'm still new to most things. I'm pretty sure I got stuck on the SRC= path or something like that.

The driver included in 2.6.31 works well with rt2870.
Here's good instructions on building the kernel yourself, I guess you can skip the 'make initrd'-part of it.

You can find the driver you're looking for from Device Drivers->Network device support->Wireless LAN->Ralink driver support->Ralink rt2800 (USB) support.

I've done more homework, and I guess that the wusb600n v2 won't work with these drivers. I guess I'll be stuck on Windows for the time being :(
