Installing printer in 10.2
Hi, i have HP printer(USB). And i do not know how to make it work in slackware 10.2.
Can somebody help me? |
In your browser location bar type http://localhost:631/
click on do administration tasks, follow instructions. This works for my hp5650, and AFAIK all printers. |
Do not work that link.
What the problem can be? |
Are you saying the link won't show up in your browser??
|
Yes
My browser shows: ERROR |
Any suggestions?
 |
Surely it says more than just "ERROR"? Do you have CUPS installed and running?
|
I have it installed, but maybe it do not work
|
Hi
Try chmod +x /etc/rc.d/rc.cups then execute /etc/rc.d/rc.cups start then try what Williams suggested. Regards |
You can also install your printer from the desktop with Gnome or KDE. In Gnome, go to System>Administration>Printing. It will ask you for your root password. From there, just click on add new printer and follow the instructions. Most of the less expensive newer HP deskjet printers use the hjiis (I believe that is correct) driver, which is usually already present.
Hope this helps Bob |
Yaho thanks p0f :)
