In your browser location bar type http://localhost:631/
click on do administration tasks,
follow instructions.
This works for my hp5650, and AFAIK all printers.

Surely it says more than just "ERROR"? Do you have CUPS installed and running?

Hi
Try chmod +x /etc/rc.d/rc.cups
then execute /etc/rc.d/rc.cups start
then try what Williams suggested.
Regards

You can also install your printer from the desktop with Gnome or KDE. In Gnome, go to System>Administration>Printing. It will ask you for your root password. From there, just click on add new printer and follow the instructions. Most of the less expensive newer HP deskjet printers use the hjiis (I believe that is correct) driver, which is usually already present.
Hope this helps
Bob
