Does today's updates need anything special done? It appears that they replaced the multilib ones you provided... Code:
Package glibc-solibs-2.15_multilib-x86_64-7alien upgraded with new package ./glibc-solibs-2.15-x86_64-8_slack14.0.txz. |
Please either upgrade or remove xfig becasue the current xfig is unusable.

Upgraded all of my boxen and all are running well. Many thanks, Pat! :) Code:

Loving the addition of Grub2. I know we've had Grub-Legacy hiding in the sources for a while now, but never a true part of Slackware or even Extras.
I too hope we can see a choice between eLilo, Grub2, and maybe even SysLinux at installation. This release is going to be very exciting. |

Great news! Thank you Pat and team! I will upgrade on my next free day.

Not so crazy about the Firefox change, but other than that, I think it'll be a great release. On the desktop side, KDE 4.10.5 is very stable, and Xfce users will now enjoy Thunar with tabs and all :-)

Anything goes south, I guess I'll have to "get current" But I was only wondering what the ramifications may be to the system. I guess I should worry needlessly, you guys are way smarter than I am. Thanks for all you do! |

I will eventually release patched multilib packages but I first need to upgrade my own virtual machines, and the server hardware died last weekend and I am busy replacing two drives after already having had to replace the case and PSU. The computer in the living room and that of my son had software issues as well, which of course have priority (family first even though those were Windows issues)... time is not working in my favour at the moment. Eric:
You don't owe me any explanations. Peace. Well, I did have to roll back those installs using true multilib Slackware64 and a local stash of /home/jj/Documents/Archives/Slackware/multilib/14.0/slackware64-compat32/ Scarey too. Skype, Thunderbird, and rainlendar2 all quit working. Fortunately, It was only for a minute. |
I'm looking forward to the final release. Thanks Pat, Eric and the team.
Regards. |
I want to add my thanks to Pat & all who have worked on Slackware through the years. I am quite happy about having grub2 as part of the distribution. I have been removing lilo & installing grub2 since grub2 has been available. It is not as intuitive as grub-legacy, but it's also not near as difficult as people try to make it appear.
Regards, Bill |
Thank you to all who work on Slackware (Pat, Eric, Robby and many more)!
I'm honored to be a Slacker. :-) |
