hmmm not too sure what's wrong, i've got that working on my machine.

as a workaround, you can probably go:

Re: Arts and Mozilla

'artsdsp mozilla' is a good workaround for this.
I've tested chmod'ing 777 /dev/snd/* but it didn't make mozilla sound work.

artsdsp mozilla is a horible workaround.. I need to get kde to use a better sound system.. Kde 3.2.2 seems to hog my sound card..

aRTs is fine. Is a Mozilla problem, not an artdsp one. Every app I know work pretty well with arts. Maybe Mozilla developers fix this in a future release. Meanwhile, use the artsdsp workaround.

use a different wm then.

or try a different sound util. if you are brave or smart or stupid you could try just using oss or alsa.
