Arts and Mozilla


When i have arts enabled mozilla doesnt have any sound.. When arts is disabled I have sound in mozilla but not in anything in kde.. How do i fix this...,

hmmm not too sure what's wrong, i've got that working on my machine.

as a workaround, you can probably go:

# artsdsp mozilla

OMG!!! Arghh look i know what I WANT!!!.. If it do that i get horrible sound quality.... I just want to get sound in kde WITHOUT

have you gone thru the configuration menus within
MOxilla, KDE/aRts is not the problem here.......
the problem is MOxilla.......

The problem is arts! I get working sound in konqueror and mozilla when arts is disabled.. Also when i use a differnt windows manager it works without issues.. The problem is arts..

'artsdsp mozilla' is a good workaround for this.
I've tested chmod'ing 777 /dev/snd/* but it didn't make mozilla sound work.

artsdsp mozilla is a horible workaround.. I need to get kde to use a better sound system.. Kde 3.2.2 seems to hog my sound card..

aRTs is fine. Is a Mozilla problem, not an artdsp one. Every app I know work pretty well with arts. Maybe Mozilla developers fix this in a future release. Meanwhile, use the artsdsp workaround.

use a different wm then.

or try a different sound util. if you are brave or smart or stupid you could try just using oss or alsa.
