With all respect to everybody, the computers are was not built as applied Poltergeistism, on contrary! they are an exact Science, so let's look sober to software. Of course, I do not exclude there being people hattin' Calendars. Those Calendars are nasty things, specially the deadlines, BUT those deadlines will NOT go away with removing Akonadi. Never.

I'd like to correct you here: akonadi was never a file indexer, you must be mistaking it with nepomuk (which was a PoS, frankly).
For me, baloo was never an issue but I always used it with SSDs and now an NVMe drive.
Akonadi on the other hand can be a hit-or-miss situation: it's a cache for PIM applications and if you use Kmail you will probably hate it with a passion.
I've only been able to tolerate it on my new machine with an NVMe drive and 16GB of RAM, and sometimes it still gives me trouble (granted, I have 15 GB of local emails which I download via POP3 so I might be kind of an outlier).
So, no: unfortunately issues with akonadi are very much still a thing, and I hope they'll get fixed eventually.
Cheers.
