I have done linux mediacheck but it still hangs.
Everytime i try it hangs at different stage

can we suspect hard disc proble and how do we confirm that ?

manvirr 09-30-2004 04:00 PM

yes hard disk can be a problem. If the disk has bad sectors it can cause the installation to hang. You can check it by selecting "check for bad blocks" while formatting your linux ext2/3 partition before installation (i.e after you have partitioned the disk using disk druid / fdisk).

Cheers.

I guess the next question would be what type of hardware are you trying to install this on?

Do you have any specs on the system or the motherboard?

I think it is your hard disk. Try formatting it in DOS / Windows and see if there are any bad sectors found. Also try running scandisk on the formatted disk.
