php executable binary

In Mandrake 10.0 , i tried to locate php executable binary but i getting the different result

[root@uplinux home]# which php
which: no php in (/sbin:/usr/sbin:/bin:/usr/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin)

[root@uplinux home]# whereis php
php: /etc/php /etc/php.ini /usr/lib/php

the above result shows that there is no php executable binary file but it listing the php.ini file.
is it i went wrong to locate it?
I tried the same thing in Red Hat 9.0 it showed the path "/usr/bin/php"
Please help me to locate php executable binary file in Mandrake system

Normally PHP is used as a apache webserver module. The command line interface PHP binary is probably provided as a package which you need to install seperately (if at all available for mandrake).

apt 12-08-2004 08:17 AM

In this case whats the change i have to do in apache conf(httpd.conf) file.?

what i have to add in the Script Alias of the httpd.conf file.?
ScriptAlias /php/ "?"

Any module i have to load in the LoadModule part of httpd.conf file.?

In order to execute php scripts in mandrake system what i have to do with my apache.

I have (Debian sarge, apache 1.3 w/ php4):
httpd.conf:
Code:

<IfModule mod_dir.c>
    DirectoryIndex index.html index.php index.htm index.shtml index.cgi
</IfModule>

# ...

<IfModule mod_mime.c>
    # ...
    AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
    AddType application/x-httpd-php-source .phps
    # ...
</IfModule>

modules.conf:
Code:

#...

LoadModule php4_module /usr/lib/apache/1.3/libphp4.so

#...

This may be slightly different on mandrake. Search you apache conf-file(s) for "php", probably you only have to uncomment (remove #) on a few lines. Did you already just try it? Changes are it just works...

Also you could have found this info in the PHP and/or mandrake documentation...

apt 12-08-2004 08:46 AM

I tried adding virtualhost to httpd2.conf file and edited the ScriptAlias, but it not executing the php scripts.

what should i change here in order to execute php scripts.

This is my httpd2.conf file for mandrake 10.0
