URPMI without an rpm
I'm using URPMI for installing just about anything, but what if what I want to install isn't in the libraries, and I have only a .tar. For example, firefox 1.0. Only the preview version is in the URPMI library, and mozilla.org has only a .tar.gz of it.
How can you make these .tars install properly? Brad Mandrake 10.1 x686 |
Hi, there's also another way to get new software installed
but you have to take a subscription to MandrakeClub (I chose a standard one) With it you can add packages compiled by club members, a kind of Contrib source. Of course you have to rely on the abilities of the member who has "packaged" the program, but it's really worth it : as a matter of fact I installed Firefox using this "method" and it was a breeze !! hope that adds to your knowledge Cheers :D P.S. No , I don't work for Mandrake ;) |
It's in the "Fresh RPMs" section, you can also vote for new RPMs to be added . Ain't that cool ? :D
