I have the same problem. They -were- there, but it doesn't seem to be picking them up any more. Where can you set the screensaver dir?

trey85stang 11-16-2003 12:06 PM

ttt

The default is listed int he KDE help file.. I do not know how to change it.. anyone else know?

Open a terminal and use 'su -' to become root. _Go to /usr/share with 'cd
/usr/share'. _Issue the command 'ln -s ./applnk-mdk/.hidden
./applnk-mdk.hidden' (one line). _Now see if there's any screensavers to
choose from. _This helped me (although I only got a list of four
screensavers in KDE), but one guy on irc said it didn't work for him, so
your mileage my vary.

I found tons of SSavers

Maybe I was in Gnome, but I was in awe of the number of screensavers
available, compared to other overpriced OSs.

Look around, they're in there!

There is a bugfix in the MD download area for users who can't get screensavers to work.

pomelo 11-17-2003 06:41 PM

heloo

the command of ZipLed works fine with me , thanks for that ZipLet !
But there are only 3 (and not the greatest) screensavers ,,,,--

now a question : some screensavers i found from the mandrake cd's (xscreensaver) are executable bin files , which after copying to the directory are not recognized by mandrake's KDE screensaverconfiguration .
How do i make them that way ?

i don't know , something like *.desktop or *.kdelnk ?:study:

Howdy, rrsc ...

For those of us new around here, could you point us to where ".. the MD download area .." is?

I'm having the same (among others) issue with screensavers not showing. Tried ZL's suggestion and no dice for me either.

Thanks a bunch!! :)

You have to install package "kdeartwork" to have all the screensavers.

rrsc16954 11-19-2003 01:08 PM

After installing I went into Control Centre-Software Management-Mandrake Update and there was a buxfix whose description said it was to help people who couldn't get screensavers.

I see there is a new fix tonight called 'popt' that is supposed to fix the menu problems, I think.

Tried this on my desktop machine today and it worked like a charm. Then tried it on my laptop and do go. Both have the same packages installed as far as I know. And the update file was downloaded and installed on both machines. What gives? Any ideas?

cjt 11-20-2003 07:09 PM

in fact I don't even have a /usr/share/applnk/Screensavers directory

What package installs them?

sbadelt 11-29-2003 11:21 PM

A combination of Post 4 and Post 10 did it for me after the Mandrake screensaver patch did not fix the problem. Was the artwork required even for the patch to work?
