Mandrake 10 kernel 2.4?

To install the official version of Mandrake 10 I had to use the alt1 command to load a different kernel because otherwise it kept messing up and refusing to boot from my SCSI CD.

Anyway I had expected that at some point it would start running kernel 2.6 like after a reboot ... except it didn't or at least I don't think it did.

Right now the command kernelversion reports 2.4

How do I make it run 2.6? It has the source file sitting in /usr/src linux-2.6.3-7mdk

Just a followup to report that I managed to solve the problem YEAH!!!!

If you don't have the 2.6 kernel installed (the kernel not the source), just install it using the software installer or using the urpmi command. Installing the kernel will, I believe add the stanza to lilo.conf. After that, you can select the option from the lilo menu, and if it doesn't work, just select the old kernel. Don't bother making it the default until you verify that it works. I hope I didn't misunderstand the problem.
Good Luck.

yeppers just either use urpmi kernel and it will list everything to do with kernel... alternativly if u have X going use mandrake control panel to install it.. just put kernel in search :) then after install reboot... choose 2.6.xxx and away ya go :d
