2015 LinuxQuestions.org Members Choice Award Nominees
In previous years, while soliciting feedback for Members Choice nominees, I have posted the polls but kept voting closed. As this caused confusion on multiple levels and resulted in a high number of "why can't I vote" questions, starting a few years ago we decided to try something new. I am going to post each category as an individual post in this thread. Each post will contain the category name and all nominees. Any feedback, including additions and deletions should be posted in this thread. Please include the category name and your suggestion in each post (ideally one category per post). When it's time to vote, I'll post the polls which will be open immediately when posted. If you have any general feedback on the MCA's, this thread would be appropriate for that as well.

Thanks Jeremy.
PyCharm is missing from the IDE category. |
Looking forward to the polls and the results.
A couple of suggestions. 1. Split the Desktop Distribution of the Year into 2 a) if you have 1GB RAM or more b) less than 1 GB RAM 2. New category: Best live distro (actually running live) 3. Remove the desktop environment window managers from the Window Manager of the Year ie do not include Compiz KWin Marco Muffin Mutter since they are not stand alone wms or nobody actually uses them as such unlike all the other in the poll. Hi jeremy
In the Distribution of the year category, you have Crunchbang listed. However, Philip Newborough announced on 6 February 2015 that he had stopped developing CrunchBang. In the wake of that announcement, several members of the Crunchbang community got together and started bunsenlabs as a continuation of the project. On that note I suggest that the Crunchbang nomination should be changed to bunsenlabs instead. |

Virtualization/Container Product of the Year:
Please add systemd-nspawn X Terminal Emulator of the Year: stjm-terminal is searching for a maintainer for over a year now, the project is essentially dead. Please add st. |
Jeremy, don't forget "portage" for Package Managers. There's also pkgutils as well.
|
I think Linux From Scratch should be added to the desktop distribution of the year, I know it's not a conventional distro but it should be in there somewhere.
