sarg index.html file problem in all directories(ONE-SHOT,daily, weekly, monthly).

Hi,

Till now I was using sarg-2.2.3.1 version on my RHEL 5.3 server. It was generating bugs in weekly and monthly reports generation. This time I first tested sarg package on my RHEL 5.3 testing server with sarg-2.3.2 version. Now when I browse in ONE-SHOT, daily, weekly and monthly directories, it gives me an error in every directory ---
The requested URL /sarg/weekly/index.html was not found on this server.
This error I'm getting in ONE-SHOT, daily and monthly also.
Is this the problem due to the package not properly installed or what else could be the problem? I downloaded the sarg package from this link: http://pkgs.org/centos-5-rhel-5/flex...86_64.rpm.html

Please assist me in figuring out the problem. Will be thankful to you guys.

You're using RHEL...but loading CentOS packages? If you're going to use RHEL, pay for it. Otherwise, just load CentOS, and stay up to date...you're only making things harder on yourself in the long run, but we've told you this before.

You don't say how you updated sarg, but chances are you over-wrote the sarg config, so things aren't where you expect them anymore. Restore your config from backups, or look for a .rpmsave file if you updated with the "rpm -u" command. And, as you're very fond of posting...check Google, and you will find answers.

I think this package is for RHEL also. Isn't it?

I'm not goin to use, I'm using RHEL and my company is paying for it.

I try to stay up to date, this is what the previous employee hasn't updated before my joining in this company. So, I have to update it and that's what I'm doing it.

This is to make myself correct, sorry for the first wrong post. Actually first I was trying to test this package, fresh install on test machine and here I got that error.

:) Yes!

I checked on google but didn't turned up with a relevant answer. So, if you can then please most welcome. :)

Hi TBOne,

The problem has been solved. The problem was, when I executed this command mentioned below:
Code:

# sarg -n -d 06/04/2012-06/04/2012 -x -z -l /var/log/squid/access.log
at the end it gave an error that SARG: (grepday) Fontname /usr/share/sarg/fonts/DejaVuSans.ttf not found

I found the image and all other images in /etc/sarg/fonts/ directory and copied fonts folder in /usr/share/sarg directory and again I tested by executing the above command and it worked for now.

It *CAN* run on RHEL, but is made for CentOS. An RHEL package actually comes from RedHat.

...then you should be able to get the package from RedHat, instead of CentOS

...back to "if you're paying for RHEL, it'll stay up to date". A valid RHEL subscription would ensure that the system would be able to pull down updates, probably automatically.

Might have been able to, had you provided sufficient details when you first posted the question.

sarg package is not available on RHEL website.

When the package is not available, then there isn't the question of package updates.

After installing sarg package using rpm -ivh sarg-<version> I tested manually report generation. Checkout my last post.

What others have already said that is other thing but I give my point of view. There are numerous ways to express and tell a thing what we all do here(giving the solution to a problem). :)

Odd that *I* can find it there..

The original statement was about keeping the *SYSTEM* up to date.

A point of view is one thing; telling someone the EXACT same thing provides nothing new.

You mean, where you EDITED things to provide the information you didn't to start with?? Yes...we've noticed it.

Unless you're registered with Red Hat support, it'll do you no good. And if you are (as you say), you can call them and get it.

Are you serious? I have already asked them and searched on their website for the package but it not available there. If you have the link from where I can download then please post it here. Will be thankul to you.

I was curious about this location-of-sarg-pkg qn, so I went to Redhat (I do have an acct) and looked at
Code:

https://rhn.redhat.com/rhn/channels/PackageListSubmit.do?cid=6957

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (v. 5 for 64-bit x86_64)

under 'S'
        sane-backends-libs-1.0.18-5.el5.i386        SANE libraries
        sane-frontends-1.0.14-1.2.2.x86_64        Graphical frontend to SANE
        sblim-cim-client-1.3.1-29.EL5.x86_64        Java CIM Client library
        sblim-cim-client-1.3.3-31.el5.x86_64        Java CIM Client library

so I tried
Code:

https://rhn.redhat.com/rhn/channels/PackageListSubmit.do?cid=10486

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server (v. 6 for 64-bit x86_64)

under 'S'

        sane-backends-libs-gphoto2-1.0.21-3.el6.x86_64        SANE libraries for gphoto2
        sane-frontends-1.0.14-9.2.el6.x86_64        Graphical frontend to SANE
saslwrapper-0.1.934605-2.el6.i686        Ruby and Python wrappers for the cyrus sasl library.
saslwrapper-0.1.934605-2.el6.x86_64        Ruby and Python wrappers for the cyrus sasl library.

So, no sign of sarg.
Had a google; all refs I found use a non RH repo, mostly rpmforge ...

Satyaveer Arya 04-12-2012 09:07 PM

chrism01,

Exactly, I also searched on redhat website couple of months ago and there is no sarg package available. Well, for now I'm using the package mentioned on link in my first post. And the issue has been resolved already. The solution is in post no. 4.

After you pointed that out, I looked this morning, and found a non-RH repo on the box I was referencing. Just typing "yum install sarg" worked for me, which is why I thought that was the case. I was wrong, and apologize.
