Running Windows programs on RedHat 9.0
I just switched Windows to RedHat 9 from Windows XP. I've been a Linux fan, though not always a user for a long time. I switched a little hastily, as I'm a web designer, and rely on my tools to build my sites.
Anyone know of a good program to run Windows programs under Linux 9? All the suggestions I have gotten were wrong. Wine won't work with GLIB 2.3, and I gotta get back up and running. Thx in advance. ~Mike |
I use Win4Lin 4 and it is awesome. Allows almost full support for everything. Check it out at www.netraverse.com.

VMWare is good but you have to buy it

Great I'll check them out. You guys rock!

Ok, a few things:
a) It's "Red Hat Linux 9", not "Linux 9", that's too vague b) It's glibc, note the C on the end, glib is something totally different. c) Wine does work with Redhat 9, use the RPMs from newrpms.sunsite.dk and you're going. Alternatively use CodeWeavers Crossover. Remember not everything runs in Wine. You'd be better off using native programs, they will work better. I find XEmacs to be good. |
LINUX 9
Eh, actually if you look at my post again, it says REDHAT LINUX 9. I only shortened it later for want of repeating myself over and over. I guess it's cool if you have nothing better to do than nit-pick other peoples posts.
Linux 9 rules. :D |
Sorry if you took it personally, I've not seen "Linux 9" used as a shortened form before (as that could refer to at least 3 different things). Redhat 9 is the usual form, or RH9 if people are feeling really lazy.

RH9
Oop. Bad day. RH9 makes more sense, you're right.
My newb colors shine through :) Thanks for your help. |
