is Xemacs better than vi?

ok, there is a debate going on in my perl class,

is Xemacs better than vi?

I think it is, because of all those nice drop down menus, that make it easier.

I cant really think of any more reasons, because I am new to linux and have had limited experience with either.

what do you think?

That's just like putting trainer-wheels on your ferrari mate...

It's prettier (if you are inclined to like that), but it
doesn't make the car better or more powerful. Both
emacs and vi are raw power if you can drive them
with hot-keys.

You may feel safer with the trainer-wheels, but
you'll be slower, and will have a hard time steering ;)

To get back to your question: no, it's not. It's different.

Cheers,
Tink

It's everywhere... GNOME vs KDE. Mozilla/Firefox vs IE. BMW vs Mercedes... :)

The only thing better than vi is vim ;)
