hi, im just finishing setting up a hardened gentoo server and i really want to host my own forum (i was inspired by this site and since discovering it i have grown to love forums :)) does anyone know of any tutorials or links to get me started? and is it totally necessary for me to know php? i am planning on learning it, it just might take me a while!

any advice would be greatly apricated

Install something like phpbb. It requires no knowledge of PHP as just about everything you need is already there, setup, etc. It does help tremendously to know a little about it, to edit, tweak, etc, to your liking though but by actually installing it, will help you learn it faster.

And I only recommend this type of forum since the one this board uses costs money, phpbb is free and works on just about anything, even windows. ;)
