Hello i have a computer with a wifi and an ethernet card attached. I would like to connect another computer to it through my ethernet card and get it working on line. The main computer with the wifi and ethernet card is running ubuntu i have set the wifi card as the main device and activated the ethernet card and set it to dynamic but i can not get my other computer to get an ip. How can i fix this problem. Thanks

Probably the easiest way is to set up a crossover cable between the two machines (you need a crossover cable as opposed to a straightthrough cable to connect one Ethernet card directly to another, in most cases). If you want the other computer to get an IP address automatically, you should set up a DHCP server, but it's easiest to just configure the two machines statically, e.g. make the computer w/ the wireless 192.168.10.1 and the other 192.168.10.2 (I assume you use another subnet for the wireless). Then set 192.168.10.1 as the default gateway for the second computer and make sure that all machines on the wireless LAN (including the router) have the wireless IP of your first computer as the gateway to the 192.168.10.0/24 subnet.
