On this computer, Firefox runs in wounded-snail mode and Chromium's flash is incompatible with the CPU. Luckily, I prefer Opera.

Oh, and Chromium also doesn't support MathML.
So, I voted for Firefox FTW.

I've tried many browsers and right now I like Pale Moon the best. It has the right combination of functionality and traditional browser interface. However, if run on the KDE desktop and oxygen-gtk2 is at 1.4.x (the version in Slackware 14.1), the gtk2 theme has to be changed from oxygen-gtk2 to avoid it crashing whenever the menu is clicked. I like the Raleigh theme the best. It can be changed just for Pale Moon by putting the following command line in the Pale Moon entry of the KDE menu:

GTK2_RC_FILES=/usr/share/themes/Raleigh/gtk-2.0/gtkrc palemoon %u

Any other theme which has a gtk2 version can be substituted for Raleigh.

FF is better for me. YMMV

I personally prefer Firefox. If you have a Google account than you could sign in and have your bookmarks and history synced on Chromium. The decision is more of which one you prefer. Because Firefox is more customizable I use it rather than Chromium. :) Your computer your disto. The decision is up to you.

Chromium 36 and later will not run on AMD Athlon XP 2400+ (32 bit) processor
 

I have an 11-year-old computer with an AMD Athlon XP 2400+ (32 bit) processor and ASUSTeK A7V8X motherboard. The machine is running Debian 7.7, which replaced Ubuntu 14.04. Chromium stopped loading on the machine after intalling the Chromium 36 update under Ubuntu 12.04. Firefox and Opera both run, except for video support.

It was suggested that the problem was that Chromium 36 began using something called the SSE2 instruction set (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSE2), which implements different vector floating-point operations (according to wiki). Apparently, the Athlon XP 2400+ central processor in my old machine does not support the SSE2 instructions.

On older gear with non sse2 support. In my case if enough ram and cpu power.

I can get by using Seamonkey 32bit still OK. I have not tested 32 bit Vilvadi yet
on non sse2 capable gear yet. I think I sold off my non sse2 gear.

Even eeepc celeron has sse2 support.

I ran Seamonkey in /opt and updated Seamonkey through the browser using sudo to launch seamonkey from terminal. Only to update though. Ran it as user using /opt/seamonkey/seamonkey
in Icewm and Fluxbox launcher text files.

Hmmm. Trying to figure out how to enable "Hello Firefox" in Iceweasel is leading me to dead ends. Damn. This is a toughy.
