BEST remote desktop program for linux.

I've tried *VNC, and I'm simply not impressed. Anyone who has spend any amount of time using rdesktop for windows will know what I mean. I'm looking for the very best method to display a linux desktop remotley on my my windows pc.

Suggestions?

If your windows PC is on the same network as your linux box, you could use XDMCP. I've used this on Solaris but not on Linux and it works well. There's an XDMCP How-To on TLDP (http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/XDMCP-HOWTO/) but I don't know how up to date it is.

The advantages of XDMCP as I recall were that you could get a login prompt on your *nix box remotely, much like you do with remote desktop.

NX is like VNC bus is really fast over slow connections. It gives near local response speed for slow connections like modem or DSL. It also has features like SSL encryption. There is a FreeNX server for Linux.
