[HELP] Problems with sound
I have Slackware 10.0, and an integrated ac'97 sound card.
But I can't seem to get the sound working. I recently installed slackware and i just raised the volume. Nothing else. It didnt work. As I know slackware uses OSS by default. One time before when i had slackware i tried with alsa and it also didnt work. I ran alsaconf and then used alsamixer to raise the volumes and it didnt work. Tought I remembr that I made it work once, so it must work somehow. How could i get it working? I will go with OSS or Alsa. Anyone? I really dont wanna go back to windows. But offcourse I need the sound. |
This may be really simple, but have you checked to make sure it's not muted? I remember some versions of Mandrake came with the mute button on when you first installed it.
Another thing to check is if you have the correct driver. Happy Linuxing! jfrey |
i raised all the posible volumes with alsamixer
correct drivers? the same drivers worked once before, so that couldnt be it  |
so does anyone know? :(

is that a no?
could someone at least tell me if sb live 5.1 is supported by alsa? |
Tintilin,
I recently had a SB live value card and it worked fine, but I use a different distro. Post the output from the "dmesg" command here and let';s see what you have. (Sorry if I can't respond immediately, I've got many things going on, but I'll try to keep in there with you.) jfrey |
