RedHat 6.1 not booting to GUI

I just installed RedHat 6.1 on 2 servers and the system kept booting into text mode. I logged in as root and changed the line id:3:initdefault to id:5:initdefault in file /etc/inittab. At the bottom where the status/loading bar moves, it always gets to the end and stops. I assume it's because it doesn't like the value 5 in there. Any ideas?

Is there a way to just load the gui from the text menu?

Edit:I found more resources..

Final Edit: I did a reinstall and chose Desktop as an additional installation package.

The command to start the GUI from text mode is:

Code:

startx
Why don't you give that a try and copy & paste back with any error messages. Alternately you can contact Red Hat support since you are paying them a lot of money to support you. :)

No worries, I got it sorted out. StartX didn't work so I just did a reinstall. I assumed it would be similar to installing Fedora...guess not!
