mount.nfs: Connection timed out
HI,
Getting time of nfs mount. But both showmount & rpcinfo output looks fine. # showmount -e 10.236.1.179 Export list for 10.236.1.179: /export/app (everyone) # rpcinfo -p 10.236.1.179 program vers proto port service 100000 4 tcp 111 portmapper 100000 3 tcp 111 portmapper 100000 2 tcp 111 portmapper 100000 4 udp 111 portmapper 100000 3 udp 111 portmapper 100000 2 udp 111 portmapper 100011 1 udp 41799 rquotad 1073741824 1 tcp 53485 100005 1 udp 52289 mountd 100005 1 tcp 42820 mountd 100005 2 udp 52289 mountd 100005 2 tcp 42820 mountd 100005 3 udp 52289 mountd 100005 3 tcp 42820 mountd 100003 2 udp 2049 nfs 100003 3 udp 2049 nfs 100227 2 udp 2049 nfs_acl 100227 3 udp 2049 nfs_acl 100003 2 tcp 2049 nfs 100003 3 tcp 2049 nfs 100227 2 tcp 2049 nfs_acl 100227 3 tcp 2049 nfs_acl 100024 1 udp 39170 status 100024 1 tcp 43773 status 100133 1 udp 39170 100133 1 tcp 43773 100021 1 udp 4045 nlockmgr 100021 2 udp 4045 nlockmgr 100021 3 udp 4045 nlockmgr 100021 4 udp 4045 nlockmgr 100021 1 tcp 4045 nlockmgr 100021 2 tcp 4045 nlockmgr 100021 3 tcp 4045 nlockmgr 100021 4 tcp 4045 nlockmgr # mount -v 10.236.1.179:/export/app /mnt/ mount: no type was given - I'll assume nfs because of the colon mount.nfs: timeout set for Tue Jul 15 15:41:50 2013 mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'vers=4,addr=10.236.1.179,clientaddr=10.236.1.170' mount.nfs: mount(2): Protocol not supported mount.nfs: trying text-based options 'addr=10.236.1.179' mount.nfs: prog 100003, trying vers=3, prot=6 mount.nfs: trying 10.236.1.179 prog 100003 vers 3 prot TCP port 2049 mount.nfs: prog 100005, trying vers=3, prot=17 mount.nfs: trying 10.236.1.179 prog 100005 vers 3 prot UDP port 52289 mount.nfs: mount(2): Connection timed out mount.nfs: Connection timed out There is no firewall or ip tables between these. Os version is RHEL 6 Any idea what could be the error? Thanks in advance. |
Few things to check
1. What version of NFS are you using? NFS4 you have to mount everything from one "root" dir, NFS3 lets you mount various nested dirs 2. The content of /etc/export (do you use the ip or hostname? what are the permissions) 3. After making changes to your NFS file, did you restart the service to take in the new changes? 4. What do your log files say? Hope that gets you started |
Solved:- NFS time out
Hey guys,
I was getting the same error. The only reason i realized later for there to be a timeout is because the connection has not been established properly. Digging deeper into the problem, I checked my firewall, and damnn NFS4 service was blocked !! Code:
system-config-firewall-tui |
