[Postfix+Dovecot+MySQL+SASL/TLS] lost connection after AUTH from localhost[127.0.0.1]
Hello!
I'm trying to set up a personal mail server on my Debian machine. I followed this tutorial http://www.exratione.com/2012/05/a-m...dovecot-mysql/ , but one thing is not working right now : SMTP AUTH.
Here's what I tried (replaced here the true server name by *servername*, in bold is what I typed):
Code:
openssl s_client -connect localhost:465
/* SSL certificates and handshakes */
220 *servername* ESMTP Postfix (Debian/GNU)
ehlo localhost
250-*servername*
250-PIPELINING
250-SIZE 10240000
250-ETRN
250-AUTH PLAIN LOGIN
250-AUTH=PLAIN LOGIN
250-ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES
250-8BITMIME
250 DSN
auth login
334 VXNlcm5hbWU6
*my username encrypyed using perl -MMIME::Base64 -e 'print encode_base64("username");'*
334 UGFzc3dvcmQ6
*my password encrypyed using perl -MMIME::Base64 -e 'print encode_base64("password");'*
DONE
And the openssl session closes. When I go and look at /var/log/mail.log, I see
Code:
Jan 4 19:38:53 servername postfix/smtps/smtpd[14002]: connect from localhost[127.0.0.1]
Jan 4 19:38:53 servername postfix/smtps/smtpd[14002]: Anonymous TLS connection established from localhost[127.0.0.1]: TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)

Jan 4 19:39:35 servername postfix/smtps/smtpd[14002]: disconnect from localhost[127.0.0.1]
The username I tried is the username in the mailbox table in my mail mysql database. I also tried with my linux account username but I have the exact same error.
SMTP works normally without auth. With this code:
Code:
telnet localhost 25
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.
Escape character is '^]'.

my gmail test account does receive the mail.

Thanks in advance!
