[Postfix+Dovecot+MySQL+SASL/TLS] lost connection after AUTH from localhost[127.0.0.1]

Hello!

I'm trying to set up a personal mail server on my Debian machine. I followed this tutorial http://www.exratione.com/2012/05/a-m...dovecot-mysql/ , but one thing is not working right now : SMTP AUTH.

Here's what I tried (replaced here the true server name by *servername*, in bold is what I typed):
Code:
openssl s_client -connect localhost:465
/* SSL certificates and handshakes */
220 *servername* ESMTP Postfix (Debian/GNU)
ehlo localhost
250-*servername*
250-PIPELINING
250-SIZE 10240000
250-ETRN
250-AUTH PLAIN LOGIN
250-AUTH=PLAIN LOGIN
250-ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES
250-8BITMIME
250 DSN
auth login
334 VXNlcm5hbWU6
*my username encrypyed using perl -MMIME::Base64 -e 'print encode_base64("username");'*
334 UGFzc3dvcmQ6
*my password encrypyed using perl -MMIME::Base64 -e 'print encode_base64("password");'*
DONE
And the openssl session closes. When I go and look at /var/log/mail.log, I see
Code:
Jan 4 19:38:53 servername postfix/smtps/smtpd[14002]: connect from localhost[127.0.0.1]
Jan 4 19:38:53 servername postfix/smtps/smtpd[14002]: Anonymous TLS connection established from localhost[127.0.0.1]: TLSv1.2 with cipher ECDHE-RSA-AES256-GCM-SHA384 (256/256 bits)
Jan 4 19:39:35 servername postfix/smtps/smtpd[14002]: lost connection after AUTH from localhost[127.0.0.1]
Jan 4 19:39:35 servername postfix/smtps/smtpd[14002]: disconnect from localhost[127.0.0.1]
The username I tried is the username in the mailbox table in my mail mysql database. I also tried with my linux account username but I have the exact same error.

SMTP works normally without auth. With this code:
Code:
telnet localhost 25
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to localhost.
Escape character is '^]'.
220 servername ESMTP Postfix (Debian/GNU)
ehlo localhost
250-servername
250-PIPELINING
250-SIZE 10240000
250-ETRN
250-STARTTLS
250-ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES
250-8BITMIME
250 DSN
mail from:<adf@dasf.afd>
250 2.1.0 Ok
rcpt to:<test_account@gmail.com>
250 2.1.5 Ok
data
354 End data with <CR><LF>.<CR><LF>
dsfsadf
dafs
adsf
.
250 2.0.0 Ok: queued as 218A821CFF
quit
221 2.0.0 Bye
Connection closed by foreign host.
my gmail test account does receive the mail.

Hi! I've got news here!
I've tried to AUTH PLAIN, and it works!

Code:
220 servername ESMTP Postfix (Debian/GNU)
ehlo localhost
250-servername
250-PIPELINING
250-SIZE 10240000
250-ETRN
250-AUTH PLAIN LOGIN
250-AUTH=PLAIN LOGIN
250-ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES
250-8BITMIME
250 DSN
auth plain *credentials in base64*
235 2.7.0 Authentication successful
So postfix and/or dovecot seems to be refusing auth logins, but i don't know where...

And by the way, in my dovecot's conf.d/10-auth.conf, it says auth_mechanisms = plain login
Code:
##
## Authentication processes
##

# Disable LOGIN command and all other plaintext authentications unless
# SSL/TLS is used (LOGINDISABLED capability). Note that if the remote IP
# matches the local IP (ie. you're connecting from the same computer), the
# connection is considered secure and plaintext authentication is allowed.
disable_plaintext_auth = yes

# Authentication cache size (e.g. 10M). 0 means it's disabled. Note that
# bsdauth, PAM and vpopmail require cache_key to be set for caching to be used.
#auth_cache_size = 0
# Time to live for cached data. After TTL expires the cached record is no
# longer used, *except* if the main database lookup returns internal failure.
# We also try to handle password changes automatically: If user's previous
# authentication was successful, but this one wasn't, the cache isn't used.
# For now this works only with plaintext authentication.
#auth_cache_ttl = 1 hour
# TTL for negative hits (user not found, password mismatch).
# 0 disables caching them completely.
#auth_cache_negative_ttl = 1 hour

# set this value to empty.
#auth_username_chars = abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ01234567890.-_@

# "-AT-". This translation is done after auth_username_translation changes.
#auth_username_format = %Lu

# If you want to allow master users to log in by specifying the master
# username within the normal username string (ie. not using SASL mechanism's
# support for it), you can specify the separator character here. The format
# is then <username><separator><master username>. UW-IMAP uses "*" as the
# separator, so that could be a good choice.

## Password and user databases
##

#
# Password database is used to verify user's password (and nothing more).
# You can have multiple passdbs and userdbs. This is useful if you want to
# allow both system users (/etc/passwd) and virtual users to login without
# duplicating the system users into virtual database.
#
# <doc/wiki/PasswordDatabase.txt>
#
# User database specifies where mails are located and what user/group IDs
# own them. For single-UID configuration use "static" userdb.
#
# <doc/wiki/UserDatabase.txt>

#!include auth-ldap.conf.ext
#!include auth-passwdfile.conf.ext
#!include auth-checkpassword.conf.ext
#!include auth-vpopmail.conf.ext

I've got the exact same problem after following the same tutorial - might be a coincidence, or it might be that there is something wrong in the configuration files.

Anyway, I'm curious to know whether you managed to solve this problem, and how you did it.

Edit: I solved it by removing the options sent to smtps in master.cf, and by getting new certificate/key from cacert.org following this post. And while I'm at it the last line of master.cf should read
Code:
flags=DRhu user=vmail:vmail argv=/usr/lib/dovecot/dovecot-lda -d $(recipient)
