Virtualbox Issues

Hi all,
DOS/Windows guy up until Windows 10. Decided to finally start to take linux seriously, as I could run a non-internet win7 client.
Running Mint 19.3
VB with 64GB vdi, 8G ram, Win7 Ultimate x64

Mint sees, the boot hd, a secondary sata, all optical drives.
The win7 client sees itself, one optical drive; It does not see the 2nd sata. If I attach a USB drive, both the host and client see it.

Through other google searches, a global item in smb.conf ?may? fix my problem, but even as root, I do not have write permission to save changes.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

You really have not asked a proper question nor what you are trying to accomplish and therefore not sure how to fix your problem...

A VirtualBox guest has limited access to the host's physical hardware. You can add a second virtual optical drive and enable pass through if your Windows 7 needs two physical optical drives.

By installing guest additions you can use VirtualBox's shared drive which is similar to samba and can access the hosts files on the 2nd SATA drive if desired. It maybe easier for someone new to setup versus samba.

Mint by default disables root account and for root privileges you use sudo.

The whole idea of a vm is to seal off the host from the guest. VB offers some shared directory where you can pass files over, but that's about it. Michaelk is right. We can't see anthing, so you have to tell us. We don't know if you're running samba or not. Have a look at this
