ubuntu wireless issues
i know this question has been asked to death around here, but i need a little help setting up my wireless. i just bought a compaq mini 110c, preloaded with xp. i set up a dual boot system with xp and ubuntu 9.10 netbook remix, and i can't seem to get the wireless up and running. some relevant information(i hope)
output for lspci: Code:
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GME Express Memory Controller Hub (rev 03) Code:
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 18:a9:05:91:48:e2 Broadcom STA wireless driver (not activated) and B54 i think, i can't find it and i think it's probably the one currently active. i would appreciate any help, thank you. |
hi>
ok so your issue is actuallya common with ralink and broadcom. your card does not appear to have the firmware. the easiest way to show you is to give you two(2) links one is on the UBUNTO bug page( google is your friend) @ http://linuxwireless.org/en/use next to the fix @ http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/b43 hope this helps. if not let me know and i will try to take you the rest of the way. |
thank you for the response. i'll read through those links now and hopefully get it taken care of.

i'll check back in later tonight to see if ya got it fixed. good luck.

thank you for the help, i got it fixed. i went with the broadcom sta wireless driver. for some reason when i downloaded it didn't set itself up properly. i removed it and installed it again. lazy solution, but save the hard fixes for my slackbox.
