If you are unable or uncomfortable with using windows to create the SD card then let us know.
Unless you down load the file to the windows drive a live version will not work. Lets forget about messing with increasing storage. If you are uncomfortable or do not want to download the file to the windows drive then you need to install a full version to the flash drive (not a start disk). If you are uncomfortable with making sure you select the USB drive we will help. We have suggest several options but you have not answered any of our questions. |
Installing Ubuntu on thumbdrive
Here is the output when I put in the commands:
Code:
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ lsblk -o NAME,SIZE,MOUNTPOINT,FSTYPE,TYPE,MODEL from this LiveThumbdrive. I have not installed Ubuntu 14.04 on it just the part that allows one to boot to a Livethumbdrive. Now I may have said previously that I installed Ubuntu 14.04 on the thumbdrive, but I was wrong. I want to try that now. My choice is to do that now. If I boot from say the LiveDVD and want to install Ubuntu on my thumbdrive instead of just trying it; how do I do that? The C: drive on the windows 7 laptop that I am using must not be touched in any way. I just want to install Ubuntu 14.04, 64 bit, on my thumbdrive, using my LiveDVD as source. Can it be done and if so how? Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance. |
Yes, The two important steps are selecting something else to manually partition and select the USB drive. When it gets to installing the boot loader make sure you select the USB drive. The internal hard drive should be sda and the USB sdb.
You really only need 1 partition for /. With 4GB swap is not necessary. |
