Problems running executables in RH 7.2
This is the third day I have Linux and I am having difficulty running executables, and even more trouble with shell scripts...ex. I downloaded this game called SearchAndRescue...managed to install it, but now if I click on the executable file, or try running it from the shell window nothing happens or it tells me it is not a recognized application file or something like that.
I am having this problem with almost all files, which suggests to me that I don't know what the heck I am doing, but thats why I'm here isn't it? I installed the game the way they told me with the "make" command and then all that stuff, so it is installed, just nothing happens when I try running it. I have a P4 running Red Hat 7.2 with GEFORCE 256 32MB graphics card 128MB RAM and no clue what I'm doing...I'm getting there though(I know a number of basic shell commands now, its just like learning DOS all over again...ahhhh the good old days of DOS) |
By the sounds of it, it's either not installing the executable file into the correct directory; the directory which holds the executable file is not in your PATH (these two are almost the same thing); or the executable attribute has not been for the file.
If you could post the complete error message, and what you did to get it, that would be very helpful. |
