No Command prompt
Hi, I am new to Linux.
And I use it at work. When I logged into a remote server using putty..i am not getting the command prompt. I tried to open a new session and found that I have logged in previous minutes before(my first session thro putty). Please help me |
your trying to get at the terminal to issue commands right? I think it's CTRL-ALT-F2 that should load it up... not 100% though. But if that's it you should at least be able to get in and do what you need to do. Like I said though not 100%, Thats how I do it on my desktop. Your logging through a remote server and may not have the privilege, or I could just be wrong. Best info I got: Search Google for Linux Remote Sever No Terminal (or No Prompt) and see what pops up.
Hope you get it figured out, Not being able to tell your system how to act sucks. |
I would speak to your system administrator (or check yourself via the physical console) and have him look at your account. Is it locked out? Do you have a default shell set?
