Unfortunately distros having a user friendly installation kit are usually the most hungry of memory as well.
At the moment I'm running slackware on my laptop (celeron 400: 64 MB Ram only; KDE). May be slack is not the simplest starting point, but if you like and have some time to waste it could be an option. Vector Linux has a very simple installation method and is based on slack. I've tiried it for a while and it works fine with low performance computers Hope this helps Ciao |
