I have used Via Rhine and Realtek based network cards ok on Linux. I am sure I bought them from ebuyer as well and on the product specs, they list whether they work with Linux. :)

Ive installed Mandrake 10.1 and i went in hardware and its detetcing that i got a wireless card etc.... belkin .. broadcom or something.... i go and run config for it and it asks me which driver it wants... which one is it :S

Isn't the type of the chip used by the card listed somewhere on the device or documentation. This usually gives you an idea about which drivers to use.
