Need some help with the wireless???

HP pavillion dv6000 laptop
AMD64x2 CPU
2gb of ram
broadcom 1390 wireless mini pci card
Ethernet is on eth0

I have the bcm43xx fwcutter file downloaded from that .de website. Just needin some guidance. Googleland has been a bit dismal, and personal guidance is a bit more personally helpful!!!

What commands/actions have you actually tried?

ENDI1111,

Do you want us to play "20 Questions" with you?

You didn't even list your Linux distribution!

Please read How To Ask Questions The Smart Way. If you have the time, this article is, IMO, well worth a read. If you don't have the time, and you still want to get questions answered by the hacker volunteers who man free software projects, then you really should make the time anyway and read this article.

OK -- so you've downloaded the package. It won't install itself.... what commands/actions have you done to try to install it?

Perhaps you only need to do the standard 5 step tarbell tango:

tar -zxvf <package>
cd <new directory>
./configure
make
make install

There are many tutorials on how to "untar" a Linux package, are those what you are looking for?

Try the post from the fedora support forum.

I have done no commands yet...I've needed to seek any guidance before I go any further. I do need to reload the bcm43xx fwcutter. I actually had to reinstall my system again in order to get things operationing right. During the update packages option some error would come up. So I figured to fix that I would reinstall. This time it has worked. All updates have been made. Nvidia driver works great. Now it is a matter of figuring out the wireless issue?
