Mint 20.2

I have installed Mint 20.2 (clean install). An app flashprint 4.2.0. that used to run on Mint 18.3 won’t run on 20.2. The terminal says Segmentation fault (core dumped). Can anybody help. Thanks.

hi, can you give us some details? How did you install and exactly what?

Mint 20.2 came out in 2021, suggest to install a newer version of flashprint https://flashforge-usa.com/pages/download

Downloaded flashprint_4.2.0_amd64.deb from FlashForge. Installed it. It can be seen in Menu Applications under Accessories.
Used double click to install the same procedure when I installed on mint 18.3. Thanks.

I would rather try this: https://www.flashforge.com/download-center. Do you need the old 4.2 ?

A segmentation fault indicates there is a mismatch between kernel version and software version.

Mint 18.3 has a 4.10 kernel, Mint 20.2 has a 5.4 kernel. A jump in kernel usually means one needs a newer version of software.

Have you tried version 5.1.1? Any problems with it?

New version will run but for some reason the whole layout is black, very hard to see. I prefer the older versions in grey.

Not familiar with flashprint, but are you sure it's not something simple like a theme or background change?

It appears to be qt5. Not sure how to change background color tho, changing theme only seems to affect drop down menus and popups.

pan64 09-30-2021 03:25 AM

yes, the old version probably does not support that background settings and is incompatible with your new mint 20.
the new version has a much better theme settings, but need to find the way....

The background colour can’t be changed. I have asked Flashforge if they will create an alternative version with a grey or lighter background. They are looking in to it. Might be lucky. Thanks for all your help.

I also have a background color in Mint 20.2 that does not change in the new version! Downloaded here: https://www.flashforge.com/download-center. as they said in the previous post! Hopefully the developers will fix this bug!

I have never seen a changeable background colour on any version of this software it was always in a grey colour and visibly very clear.
